Safety first

Match the practice to the moment

Breath Tempo separates gentle rhythms from stronger patterns so you can choose conservatively. Start easier than you think, stay seated or lying down for anything intense, and stop if the practice feels wrong.

Gentle

Good default for most sessions

Hold-free or low-pressure rhythms are the safest place to begin. Short sessions count, and comfort matters more than completing a preset.

Moderate

Use extra care with holds

Brief holds can feel useful for some people, but they should never feel strained. Shorten the count or choose a hold-free rhythm if there is air hunger.

Intense

Never practise in risky places

Faster breathing and retention work belong seated or lying down on dry land. Never combine them with driving, standing, swimming, bathing, or diving.

Choose a comfortable position

Practice seated or lying down when you can. Avoid driving, being in water, or standing for intense rhythms and breath holds.

Go at your own pace

Shorter sessions are fine. There’s no need to push through discomfort. Ease into holds and faster breathing only when it feels steady and safe.

When to pause or stop

Slow down or stop if you feel dizzy, lightheaded, anxious, numb, or unusually uncomfortable. Return to normal breathing and rest.

Health conditions and pregnancy

If you are pregnant, have cardiovascular or respiratory concerns, epilepsy, or recent panic or trauma, choose gentler options and check with a qualified professional before intense breathwork.
